Background: This was one story I'd forgotten about for almost five years before digging out of the figurative vaults. Obviously I remembered it eventually, because, otherwise, it wouldn't be on the site, now would it? Ok, the background info.
After being in practically all of my early stories: including Destroying the Evidence, World War III, Stranded, The Natives, and The Typhoon, Jennifer Dower and Rachel Trammell felt a little left out in such Clower classics as The Hurricane, The War of 1317, and A Good Time Gone Bad. And looking back, I can't say I blame them one bit. I'd be ticked off too if I'd left me out of my own stories.
As a result, they wanted a story written specifically for themselves. And like so many other older bodies of work, this one started off very well. I regretted never completing it after I read over the four or so paragraphs I'd initially written. Well now that I'm in college and supposed to take my academics seriously, what better time to finish some of these forgotten gems.
Note: This is the first and only story to feature Bobby Damore, Scott Deck, Wil Drotar, and Trevor Hyland.
Bob McBob is an homage to Robbie Greer's alias mentioned in The Hurricane and Lauren Returns.
As if it isn't obvious, I've already ruined the outcome of the mystery. M'woo ha ha ha.
"Bobby the Greek" was the nickname I'd given to Bobby Damore, who was proud of his Greek heritage to say the least. Aren't those Greco last names just the coolest? Hahaha, Sukopapalamapopoulos. AWESOME!
Tyler's mentioning of Tad's try-outs for the top choir at DHS did actually happen. At the end of our junior year in May, 2002, Tad would not stop bragging about how he would be part of corral the following year. Well just for kicks, RJ, Stephen, and myself decided to try out for the choir as well. All three of us made it into the elite choir, while Tad did not. Needless to say I brought this up off and on throughout our senior year whenever Tad wouldn't stop rambling. Hey, I beat him out for the race for junior class vice president, too. Haha. Man, I rock!
Jack McThomas is a combination of Jack in the Box, Ronald McDonald, and the late great Dave Thomas, spokespeople for the Jack in the Box, McDonald's, and Wendy's franchises respectively.
Stephen, RJ, and myself do often play praise music at our church, and I do play bass guitar and sing.
Rachel is originally from Bartonville, Texas.
