Background: By this point, Paul and Marli had long-since broken up, and Paul had a crush on Mallory. When I was writing this story, I remember talking to Paul on the phone once and him wanting me to pair the two of them up. So I did.
At the same time, Tad Hopp had been reading my stories and was wondering why he was never in any of them. Well being the good friend that I am, I portrayed him as a soldier who said nothing and got shot in the face. You can also find countless anachronisms in this story: including shotguns, cannons, and five CD disc changers.
